If You Are Always Late, Look Beyond Shortening the Swing
Late contact begins with the first read and foot preparation, not simply with arm speed.

Start with this check
If you are unprepared at the opponent's contact and wait until after the bounce to move, even a sound swing will not arrive on time.
Try these steps in order
- Split-step as the opponent hits and take the first step as soon as you read the direction.
- Complete the shoulder turn and racquet preparation while moving.
- After arriving, create the distance to the ball with small adjustment steps, then swing.
Bottom line
Hitting earlier does not mean rushing the swing; it means moving preparation earlier.
