Confidence Comes From Evidence, Not a Mantra

Instead of repeating "I can do this," collect small patterns that have succeeded under pressure.

Confidence Comes From Evidence, Not a Mantra

Start with this check

If results are your only evidence for confidence, one loss or error can shake that belief severely.

Try these steps in order

  1. Write down three serve, return, or neutral patterns you have repeated successfully in training.
  2. Before a match, set a number of times to execute those patterns rather than an outcome goal.
  3. After the match, record evidence of sound choices, recovery, and routines regardless of winning or losing.

Bottom line

Durable confidence is not the belief that you are perfect; it is the belief that you know which actions to return to when shaken.
