Luxilon ALU Power

The first useful checks are the full model name and gauge. Original ALU Power, Rough, Soft and Feel are distinct products. A familiar professional setup does not establish suitability for your frame or playing conditions.

The boundary between original, Rough, Soft and Feel

This page concerns original ALU Power. Copying another variant’s texture, coating or measurements into it removes a meaningful product distinction. Gauge should also follow an explicitly stated metric diameter.

A manufacturer link may concern one gauge-specific retail listing. Its description and a measurement set covering several gauges are different scopes of evidence.

Dynamic stiffness is not how stretchy a string feels by hand

Stretching during installation or bending easily by hand does not directly establish stiffness during a fast impact. Compare dynamic stiffness under matching conditions alongside the installed setup’s response.

Even when a laboratory table contains a similar name, measurements should remain separate unless model and gauge identity are clear. A blank is more accurate than a confidently assigned result from another version.

Using a professional hybrid as a reference

A professional setup requires separate confirmation of main and cross placement, gauge, customised frame and the reference tension at that time. Sharing the ALU Power name is not sharing the whole setup.

A documented full-bed baseline makes the effect of moving to a hybrid easier to interpret. When changing only the cross, also track main-string return and wear.

How repeatable is the appealing first hit?

Separate the crisp response after installation from consistency of depth and trajectory after use. If ageing is the problem, tracking usage and replacement may address it more directly than the model name.

No fixed number of service hours is guaranteed. Record installation date, hitting time, notching and movement with the same frame, balls and court conditions to establish a useful personal replacement criterion.

Racquets to compare

Numbers are suggested only when the maker publishes a tension range.
