TWU reports 258.9 lb/in stiffness and 21.3% tension loss for 4G 1.25 mm. Against Hyper-G 1.25 under the same conditions, it loses less tension but is stiffer. Do not read tension retention as a synonym for softness.

Laboratory measurements
Lower stiffness means less resistance to deformation in this test. Tension loss is measured under a laboratory protocol, not a prediction of playing hours. Spin potential is a friction-based ratio, not ball RPM.

Two properties in a matched 1.25 mm comparison
At 51 lb and Fast speed, Hyper-G 1.25 records 218.3 lb/in and 24.7% loss; RPM Blast 1.25 records 233.7 lb/in and 33.3%. In this comparison, 4G combines higher stiffness with lower loss. Collapsing those into one quality ranking hides the trade-off.
The 21.3% figure belongs to a laboratory procedure. It does not mean 21.3 playing hours or a fixed lifespan advantage over another string. Keep test loss and service time separate.
Start with the response you want to change
If trajectory changes with use are your main complaint about a current polyester, the tension-loss measurement is relevant. If a firm stringbed is the problem, the low loss percentage alone is a poor reason to choose 4G.
The 51 lb test setting is not a stringing prescription. Work from your frame’s guidance and your existing setup, changing model, gauge or reference tension one at a time.
Keep 4G and 4G Soft separate
4G Soft is a distinct product. Copying the 4G 1.25 result onto Soft or another gauge erases a potentially meaningful difference. This page retains the original sample label so the measurement can be traced.
For a hybrid, record main and cross placement. A single-string test does not directly describe the completed stiffness of natural-gut mains with 4G crosses.
Three observations for replacement decisions
Log trajectory, main-string return and repeated-impact comfort after installation and again with use. Remaining unbroken does not establish unchanged response.
The reason to choose 4G is whether its particular combination supports the consistency you need while its firmer measured response remains appropriate for your setup.
