Solinco Tour Bite
TWU’s Tour Bite 1.25 mm sample records 237.7 lb/in stiffness, 25.2% tension loss and a spin-potential ratio of 5.9. Against Hyper-G 1.25 under the same conditions, the stiffness difference is clearer than the differences in loss or ratio.

Laboratory measurements
Lower stiffness means less resistance to deformation in this test. Tension loss is measured under a laboratory protocol, not a prediction of playing hours. Spin potential is a friction-based ratio, not ball RPM.

The test tension is not a stringing recommendation. Compare the same gauge and test conditions; the racquet, stroke and stringing method also affect the result on court. On the source page, select All in the material filter to see results for every material.

The main distinction at matching diameter
Hyper-G 1.25 records 218.3 lb/in, 24.7% loss and 6.1. Tour Bite is 19.4 lb/in stiffer in this test. That is not a percentage difference in perceived feel; it directly means greater resistance to deformation under these conditions.
Ratios of 5.9 and 6.1 also cannot settle overall playing superiority. Your stroke and the complete stringbed introduce other variables.
Changing gauge changes the comparison
Tour Bite 1.10 reports 171.5 lb/in and 32.2% loss; 1.15 reports 161.7 and 50.6%; 1.25 reports 237.7 and 25.2%. Stiffness does not even order these samples strictly by diameter. Do not interpolate untested gauges from them.
Labels such as 16 or 17 without a stated metric diameter remain nominal labels. A guessed conversion should not merge them into an explicitly measured 1.25 mm result.
Moving from a full bed to a hybrid
If you change only the crosses to alter a firm sensation, track main-string movement and notching as well. A softer-cross description does not calculate the completed stringbed’s stiffness.
Record both models, both gauges and their individual reference tensions. Changing both materials and tensions at once makes the next comparison much harder to interpret.
The observations that support choosing Tour Bite
Include short returns and slice depth alongside your usual topspin drive. More bite is not necessarily an improvement if length becomes less repeatable.
Compare main-string return, intersection wear and trajectory when fresh and after use. A spin-related metric or loss percentage is not a guaranteed service life.
Racquets to compare
Numbers are suggested only when the maker publishes a tension range.
