What condition does 290 describe?

Babolat explicitly labels the approximately 300 g weight and 321 mm balance as unstrung, but lists 290 under a separate Swing Weight heading without a condition. We therefore leave its measurement basis unspecified. Strings add mass in the head, but that fact does not justify calculating a strung value from this number.

The page uses values such as 100.01 in², 300.01 g and RA 69.01. These are published entries, not evidence that each retail frame was measured to that precision. Check the actual mass and balance of the individual frame when matching racquets.

The 98 changes one cross as well as head size

The Pure Aero 98 Gen9 lists 98 in², 305 g, 315 mm and 16×20. The standard model is roughly 100 in², 300 g, 321 mm and 16×19. Head area, mass, balance and pattern change together; the 98 is not merely a scaled-down version with every other variable held constant.

Compare net clearance and depth separately with matching strings. A reassuring attacking topspin shot is not enough if short returns and low defensive balls lose the depth your game needs.

How to test the spin-oriented design
