The 305 g Pure Drive 98 combines a compact head with a 16×20 pattern. Its value lies in keeping attacking depth manageable, but the published beam and inertia figures need source-specific reading before you choose strings or compare it with another 98.

A nominal 305 g is not a promise about the individual frame

Babolat specifies 98 in², 305 g unstrung, 325 mm unstrung balance and 27 inches. The weight tolerance is ±7 g and the balance tolerance ±7 mm. A small nominal difference between models can be smaller than the permitted variation between individual frames.

When ordering two match racquets, ask for measured weight and balance before stringing, then check the completed setups with the same strings and grip accessories. A model name and the printed 305 g cannot establish that two frames will prepare or recover identically.

Manufacturer swingweight 300 and retailer 326 have different documentation

The Babolat table labels weight and balance as unstrung, but the separate Swing Weight 300 field has no measurement condition. Tennis Warehouse publishes a strung reference of 323 g, 33.48 cm balance, 326 swingweight and 69 RA, with a note that stiffness and swingweight were updated on 21 January 2025.

Do not turn the difference between 300 and 326 into a fixed contribution from strings. The sources do not document measurements of the same frame under a common protocol. Use the retail reference to plan a demo, and measure your actual playing setup if matching inertia matters.

The two beam descriptions do not agree at the final section

Babolat’s Section field reads 21/23/22 without a unit printed in that field; TW explicitly gives 21/23/21 mm. We retain this disagreement rather than choosing the more convenient final number. Confirm the exact product and measurement positions before ordering parts or comparing frame geometry.

The manufacturer also lists 73 ±3 RA, while TW gives 69. That does not establish a four-point improvement or a production change. A global bending index cannot, by itself, describe hoop stability, torsional response or the feel of a particular stringbed.

The extra cross and flax damping solve different design problems

Gen11 uses 16 mains and 20 crosses. Babolat links this pattern to precision and describes NF²-Tech 2.0 flax reinforcement as vibration filtration. FSI Power combines string interaction with grommet and Woofer features; these are manufacturer design claims, not measured gains in your ball speed or spin.

A 16×20 label does not reveal the spacing in the centre of the stringbed. Observe net clearance and depth separately on a driven approach and a high defensive ball. A reassuringly muted impact can coexist with a firm string response; sound alone does not establish lower stiffness.

21–25 kg and the stringing pattern are starting information

Babolat prints 21–25 kg / 46–55 lb and names RPM Blast and RPM Power as recommended strings. Those different strings do not become equivalent at the same reference tension. Begin comparisons with one familiar model and gauge, then change one variable after recording depth and response over repeated sessions.

TW lists two-piece stringing, mains skipping 7T, 9T, 7H and 9H, and no shared holes. Keep that retailer notation intact and obtain the model-specific tie-off instructions; skip holes are not a complete stringing map. Confirm that any replacement grommet set belongs to the 2025 16×20 frame.

Compare with Pure Aero 98 using more than their shared 305 g

Pure Aero 98 Gen9 also lists 98 in², 305 g and 16×20, but its manufacturer balance is 315 mm, versus 325 mm here. That 10 mm nominal difference is a reason to inspect weight distribution, not to assume identical handling from matching weight and pattern.

Alternate an early return, a deep approach followed by a first volley, and a stretched defensive ball. Keep strings, balls and target depth comparable. The Drive 98 earns a place on the shortlist if its attacking depth remains controllable without making your frequent defensive contacts or recovery noticeably harder.
