Both mass and rotational resistance drop against the Pro
TW lists the MP at 318 g/323 and the Pro at 332 g/329. Their strung balances are 33.02 cm and 32.39 cm. The Pro's more head-light balance coexists with higher listed mass and swingweight.
A reason to test the MP is to reduce late preparation experienced with the Pro. Individual units are not guaranteed to match these references, so check whether preparation improves while depth against a fast incoming ball remains adequate.
16×19 alone does not predict an open-pattern response
TW describes tightly spaced central mains in the Radical MP. Head geometry and hole placement can change central spacing even with the same 16×19 count. Another 98/16×19 frame's trajectory cannot simply be assumed to carry over.
Compare a high-clearance crosscourt swing with a short return. Spin depends on ball–string friction, inter-string movement and the stroke as well as pattern counts. Treat central spacing as construction information, then check the net clearance and length you can actually produce.
Use the overlaps with two other MPs to frame the comparison
TW's Gravity MP 2025 also has 323 swingweight, but pairs 312 g with 100 in², 16×20 and 57 RA. The Speed MP 2026 matches the Radical's 318 g strung weight, yet uses 100 in², 329 swingweight and 60 RA. One matching quantity leaves several construction differences open.
Against the Gravity, examine head area and bending response at a similar reference rotational resistance. Against the Speed, examine preparation with the same listed total mass. The shared MP name does not define a single performance category.
Do not reduce 20/23/21 mm to one average thickness
TW's description and table identify a profile thicker around the middle of the head than at the shaft and tip. Averaging the three values loses that geometry. Thickness alone still cannot calculate stability in a particular direction or individual comfort.
The 66 RA figure also concerns frame bending, separately from string stiffness. Even when starting within TW's 48–57 lb range, consider material, gauge and required depth together. Matching the string setup makes frame-feedback differences easier to interpret.
Take the all-court comparison through the first volley
Test an attack on a short ball followed immediately by the first volley. Check whether you can reset and present the required face while moving, as well as when fully prepared on the baseline.
If the frame seems to be pushed around, distinguish late contact from displacement during the collision. Adding mass immediately can reduce the preparation advantage that motivated the MP choice. Record the stock result before deciding what needs to change.
