Identify the 305S from the product table, not a reused family paragraph

The manufacturer’s 305S page contains a general paragraph mentioning 645 cm² and 16×19. Its own Features table instead identifies 630 cm²/98 in² and 18×19; TW independently specifies 98 in² and 18×19. Those product-specific tables establish the model discussed here. The retail SKU family 14FI305S5 matches the manufacturer’s 14FI305S52 grip variant.

The 300S has 300 g, 98 in² and 16×19 in its manufacturer table; the 300 has 300 g, 100 in² and 16×19. Thus 305S versus 300S changes nominal mass and mains, while 305S versus 300 also changes head area. Recording the full suffix prevents two different comparison questions from becoming one.

Read the 320 g and 324 swingweight together

TW lists the 305S at 320 g strung and 32.49 cm balance, against the 300’s 318 g and 32.99 cm. Their swingweights are 324 and 318. Here, balance closer to the handle coexists with greater rotational resistance: two grams of total-mass difference do not describe the whole swing.

TW describes the revised 305S as quicker than its predecessor, but the current reference does not measure your preparation-time improvement. Test a body return, then the first attacking ball. Record finished weight, strings and accessories if you want a purchased unit to reproduce a demo.

Treat 18×19 as a string layout with a particular head geometry

The 305S keeps 19 crosses, like the 300 and 300S, while adding two mains. It is not an arithmetic midpoint between 16×19 and 18×20. Spacing, string lengths, material and tension affect the installed bed; counts alone cannot calculate launch or playing spin.

TW describes foam filling, reinforced RS-section construction and ISOFLEX. These explain design choices; 63 RA separately describes frame bending. During a demo, check variation in length on prepared drives and depth from low defensive contacts. A pleasingly damped impact does not establish that both shots are working.

Establish the string setup before making the dense-pattern verdict

The current TW product table gives 49–55 lb. This is reference guidance, not a prescription to choose the midpoint or copy a professional’s tension. Use a familiar string and gauge, and record stringing date. Changing frame, string material and tension together makes a short defensive reply difficult to diagnose.

Alternate a deep crosscourt drive with a compact blocked return. If the full swing is repeatable but the block repeatedly lands shallow, isolate that trade-off. Recheck after comparable playing time: a change that develops with use should not automatically be blamed on the 18×19 layout.

Judge the next swing, not only the first solid contact

Include serving followed by a forehand and a high backhand followed by recovery into the next ball. Note whether you can return the racquet to position while moving. A solid first hit is less useful if subsequent contacts consistently move behind you.

Choose the 305S when its combination preserves the drive length you want without repeatedly costing defensive depth or preparation. The manufacturer’s tour endorsements identify a product family relationship; they do not prove a player’s retail frame, finished mass or current string tension.
