Yonex EZONE 98
The EZONE 98 is 5 g heavier than the 100, but its unstrung balance is 5 mm closer to the handle. A smaller head and a higher static weight do not, by themselves, establish a slower or more demanding swing.

More mass does not automatically mean slower handling
The published figures are 98 in², 305 g and 315 mm, against 100 in², 300 g and 320 mm for the 100. Because mass and balance change together, the 5 g difference cannot independently quantify rotational effort.
Compare complete playing setups. Strings add mass in the head, so differences between bare frames are not necessarily the same as differences between the finished racquets.
An identical 16×19 count does not establish identical spacing
Both frames have the same main and cross counts. That does not establish equal central spacing or stringbed response. Translating the smaller area directly into lower launch or better control overlooks the influence of the actual string setup.
Separate flatter drives from higher topspin shots and record the variation in net clearance. Include defensive balls that fall short or hit the net, rather than judging only attacking direction changes.
Set a useful order for setup changes
The manufacturer’s 45–60 lb range still allows substantial differences between materials. If you lower tension to gain depth, also track changes in launch and direction. One setting does not change every response proportionally.
Starting with thinner polyester, lower tension and added weight simultaneously makes it difficult to evaluate the frame. Establish timing with a familiar setup, then address one missing response at a time.
When the 98 earns its place over the 100
Check whether you can repeat the racquet-face position in front of contact with your normal full swing. A smaller head is not an automatic precision upgrade; fatigue and defensive depth after a set remain part of the decision.
If your usual off-centre misses lose substantial depth, compare the 100 again under matching string conditions. Separate the impression in your hand from the result during points.
