Solinco Blackout V2 300

The Blackout V2 300 uses 100 in², 16×19 and a variable 23.5–26–23 mm beam. Its 317 TW swingweight reference and the manufacturer’s 45–50 lb range give more useful starting points than a generic power label.

Blackout and Whiteout are not separated by five grams alone

Solinco lists the Blackout V2 300 at 100 in², 300 g, 315 mm balance and 27 inches, with 16×19 and a 23.5–26–23 mm beam. Whiteout V2 305 is 98 in² with a constant 21.7 mm beam. Both are standard-length models here; the XTD variants are separate products.

TW identifies the Blackout as the second generation and describes Arch-2 construction, Power Flex Zone and foam in the head. Solinco names Foam Tech Core as a V2 feature. These published descriptions help identify the update but do not quantify how much extra pace an individual player will produce.

317 versus 328: the finished-racquet comparison is more revealing

TW lists Blackout V2 at 320 g strung, 32.51 cm balance, 317 swingweight and 66 RA; its Whiteout V2 reference is 323 g, 33.02 cm, 328 and 65 RA. A three-gram static difference accompanies a larger swingweight difference. The distribution of mass matters as well as the total.

Against a rapid feed, check whether the Blackout lets you prepare on time while retaining depth on a blocked response. Repeat with Whiteout using comparable strings. These references suggest a useful test; they do not guarantee that two purchased samples reproduce every listed number.

A quieter impact is not a stability measurement

The manufacturer describes Power Flex Zone for power and Foam Tech Core for reducing vibration. TW additionally describes reinforcement at 3 and 9 o’clock. The beam geometry, reinforcement and damping act through different mechanisms.

On volleys, separate the sound and sensation from the direction of the ball after an off-centre hit. A damped feel can make an impact less obvious without proving that the face rotated less. Check the outcome and the preparation before deciding the racquet needs extra mass.

Why 45–50 and 45–55 lb both appear online

Solinco recommends 45–50 lb. TW explicitly says it expanded the retail range to 45–55 lb for players preferring higher tensions. The manufacturer’s range remains the catalog recommendation; the retailer extension is disclosed separately.

The manufacturer’s 16×19 instructions say to skip 7T, 9T, 7B and 9B, tie mains at 8B, start crosses at 5T and tie them at 6B. TW uses H/T rather than the manufacturer’s T/B notation. Match the actual stringing diagram and frame; do not translate hole letters by appearance alone.

A five-gram butt-cap module is not five grams in the hoop

TW describes optional Solinco weight-control modules that add 5 or 10 g at the butt cap. Adding mass there shifts the balance towards the handle, but it does not reproduce the swingweight or impact effect of placing the same mass near the hoop.

Begin with the stock setup and record serve preparation, the next volley and defensive depth. If you later add a module, repeat the same sequence and record the finished weight and balance. Buy the adjustment to solve an observed problem rather than to reach an arbitrary target weight.
