HEAD Speed MP 2026
Tennis Warehouse lists strung reference values of 318 g and 329 swingweight for the Speed MP, against 326 g and 328 for the Pro. An 8 g reduction in total mass does not imply a corresponding reduction in the effort needed to accelerate the frame. Timing matters alongside the 100 in², 16×19 layout.

Why mass and swingweight tell different stories
Static weight measures total mass; swingweight describes resistance to rotation about a specified axis. TW lists strung balances of 33.02 cm for the MP and 31.98 cm for the Pro. Different distributions of mass between handle and head allow a lighter racquet to have similar rotational resistance.
The difference between 329 and 328 cannot rank individual racquets. Measurement variation and the specifications of the unit you buy are unknown here; the useful conclusion is that these published swingweights are similar. Moving to the lighter MP does not automatically solve late preparation on a body-serve return.
Two kinds of depth to check with the 16×19 pattern
Both MP and Pro have 100 in² heads, but the Pro uses 18×20. String lengths and intersection placement change with the pattern. TW describes the MP as offering easier access to spin than the Pro, but does not supply a measured difference in playing RPM or launch angle.
On a full crosscourt swing, check whether comfortable net clearance still produces the target landing depth. On a short blocked return, check for floating or overlong replies. Easier attacking depth is useful when the shorter defensive stroke remains manageable too.
Hy-Bor and 60 RA describe different things
TW describes the 2026 Hy-Bor construction as incorporating boron fibres in the shaft, alongside Auxetic 2 in the yoke and handle. That is a construction description. The separately listed 60 RA concerns frame bending stiffness, not the stiffness of a particular installed stringbed or the complete vibration sensation.
During a demo, record appealing impact sound separately from repeatable depth. A muted contact can still accompany late timing and a short reply. Low RA alone cannot establish personal arm comfort or injury risk.
What to preserve in the first string setup
TW lists a 48–57 lb range. Its midpoint is not an individual prescription. For an MP–Pro comparison, begin with the same string model and gauge, and record installation date and reference tension so that frame differences are easier to interpret.
If fresh strings repeatedly send a block return long, isolate that situation for adjustment. Distinguish it from a problem that occurs only on full swings or only after several sessions. Otherwise, frame choice and changing string response become mixed together.
Evaluate the next preparation as well as the first swing
Include serve-plus-forehand sequences and the first volley after a deep return. A good initial strike is less useful if you cannot reset the racquet for the next ball. Check whether contact stays in front after longer rallies.
If preparation remains the problem, the Speed Tour 2026 offers another comparison, with a TW reference swingweight of 325. Its 97 in² head changes the hitting surface as well, so assess reduced rotational resistance alongside the consequences of your off-centre contacts.
